Backyard playsets or kids swing sets are pieces of backyard adventures which are mostly just a solid frame with one or two swings hung from it. Almost all swings are hung by a chain of some sort and have two swings, and different types of ladders. This offers multiple activities and options for children to play on. Some outdoor playsets also are combined with a fort or clubhouse.

The outdoor playset usually comes in many colors and options. Wooden swing sets are usually constructed of cedar, and are among the most popular. There may also be aluminum or vinyl play sets available as well. All materials has to be protected, be it painted or sealed, for longevity, as these things are not inexpensive by any stretch, and for the amount of money, and the abuse children will put it through, one would need it to last.

Typically, using a light shade of paint on metallic surfaces keeps the playset cooler, specifically in the summer time because a light color absorbs less sunlight. Quite often, pressure treated wood is utilized to arrest deterioration. Plastics and vinyls were once less used, as they were not strong enough to hold the weight. But in recent years, new vinyl and plastic composite technology have enabled manufacturers to use these materials to construct lighter and more durable swing sets.

Every play set should be erected over a mulch or pea gravel foundation, and needs to be at least 6 feet away from the walls or all items which could injure the kid if they would hit them. The best location to erect a swing set is in the backyard as this helps children remain physically active, and helps keep them safe, and safety is just as essential as having a good time.
