Swing sets or kids swing sets are pieces of backyard adventures which are essentially a traingular frame with one or two swings suspended from the top. Almost all swings are suspended by a chain of some kind and contain two or more swings, and different types of ladders. This offers many activities and features for kids to play with. Some swing sets for kids also are combined with a tree house or clubhouse.

The outdoor playset comes in many colors and with attachments. Wooden playsets are most times constructed of oak, and are usually the most popular. There are also galvanized steel or vinyl alloy swing sets available as well. All materials must be protected, be it painted or sealed, for durability, as these things are not cheap by any stretch, and for the amount of money, and the abuse kids will put it through, you want it to last.

Typically, using a light color of paint on metal keeps the playset cooler, especially in the summer months because light color absorbs less heat. Most times, pressure treated lumber is utilized to arrest deterioration. Plastics and vinyls were once less used, as they weren't strong enough to support that much weight. But in recent years, new vinyl and plastic composite advances have allowed manufacturers to use these materials to build stronger and more durable outdoor playsets.

The swing set should be installed over a sand or small grain gravel foundation, and needs to be a minimum of six feet away from the walls or all items which could harm the kid if he/she would hit them. The best location to erect a swing set is in the backyard as this helps children remain physically active, and keeps them safe, and being safe is as important as having fun.
