It's about time to take the culture rich trip to Curacao! Curacao were found by Spaniards around 1499 by Alonso de Ojeda, who happened to be one of Columbus's crew. In Sixteen forty two, Peter Stuyvesant was installed as governor. In 1954, the power of Curacao and the Dutch Antilles shifted from “colonial” to being totally self-governing in the Realm of the Netherlands.

So where did Curacao get the name? There are many conflicting theories for the origins of the word Curacao. The most likely description stems from the Spanish, who called the island "Corazon", which is Spanish for Heart. The famous Portuguese mapmakers adopted the Spanish word to fit into their own language and dialect as "Curacao" or "Curacau". Today, within the region, their island is known as "Dushi Korsou" or locally translated is Sweet Curacao. Curacao is made up of 4 fundamental geological units: the Curacao Lava Formation, the Knip Group, the Middle area, and a Limestone Formation. At first glance, it may appear to be barren and desolate. But in reality, there are literally thousands of different species of animals and tons of native plant life that thrive there.

Sometimes referred to as "The Treasure of the Carribbean", this tropical paradise boasts so many awesome sites and activities to be enjoyed, that it baffles the mind. If one seeks curacao hotels or curacao vacation packages or you'd enjoy curacao weddings or perhaps a curacao honeymoon all to yourselves, a great place to begin the journey will be searching the web for: vacation in curacao or casino curacao or casino willemstad curacao.
